Basic Information

Granada is a wonderful city for painting. Much of the centre is pedestrianised and so is ideal for small sketching or painting parties. There are fine examples of historic architecture around every corner, street art, cafes, botanical gardens.... We will be only a few minutes walking distance from the fabulous Granada Cathedral. The weather forecast for the end of September is 26 of 27 decree Centigrade. So again that's just perfect. Hosted by Arte Umbria, this holiday is open to painters in any medium and primarily oils and watercolours. The holiday includes 7 nights accommodation, breakfasts and dinners. Bookings must be made directly with Arte Umbria at
Accommodation is all inclusive which means you’ll be staying in a city centre hotel with all meals (with drinks) provided. Breakfasts will be in the hotel. Lunches will be at local cafes and evening meals at restaurants in the city centre. The precise hotel will be confirmed shortly. But it will be a small one within a pedestrian zone. All rooms are with en-suite bathrooms. I will be flying into Malaga Airport on the day before tuition begins. From there I take a three hour train or coach journey to Granada. It is a short taxi ride from the station to the hotel.

The course is open to all students of any standard. I am quite happy to teach and demonstrate in watercolour or oils. If you prefer acrylics, no problem, I love working in acrylics. You can refer to my previous Blogs for a list of materials. I will focus on Townscapes. Granada has the heat the light, the history, and the architecture. My subject matter can be a simple tree a beautiful doorway or a streetscape vista. There is a lot to explore with composition, tone, colour and texture.
I plan lots of coffee shop stops...
